See this handy guide:
Stamina Breeds
Arab, Canadian Horse, Connemara
Speed Breeds
Appy, Paint, PSH, Chinco
Dressage Breeds
Irish Hunter, Friesian
Gallop Breeds
QH, tb, Welsh
Trot Breeds
Standardbred, (Friesian)
Jumping Breeds
Hano, Aussie, Newfie
So, for example, if you wanted to get an horse excelling in Show jumping competitions, firstly you'd cross a good-Gp Dressage horse (eg. an IH) and a good-Gp Speed horse (eg. a Paint), and cross the resulting foal with an exellent-Gp Jumping horse (eg. a Hano). That way you get top Gp for each part, making skill gain in those easy. Some other good crosses: Gallop competition
1. cross a PSH with a Friesian 2. cross Cross1 with a Welsh
Trot competition
1. cross a Chinco with a IH 2. cross Cross1 with a Standardbred
X-country competition
1. cross an Aussie with a Friesian 2. cross Cross1 with a Connemara Barrel Racin'
*see Gallop competition*
